On Saturday, February 15th, 2025, between 11:17am and 10:12pm ecoLINK experienced degradation of internet service for all of its subscribers, leading to severe packet loss during the following periods: 11:17am to Noon 3:00pm to 10:12pm The underlying failure was fiber damage to a major 264 count fiber cable along US-380 in Aubrey, Texas, owned by a third party transit provider. A second transit provider ecoLINK uses to transport internet service was also impacted by this damage, leaving us with one (of three) transit links which then reached 100% utilization. To mitigate future risk to our network of this nature, ecoLINK is exploring options to obtain two or more additional transit providers on known separate fiber networks.

The outage has been resolved, and normal service should be restored as of 11:00pm, Saturday evening.
Subscribers still experiencing issues should reboot their system. If problems persist, please call 918-756-0833 for Technical Support.
Details from the third party provider:
Initial Issue: The outage was caused by a track-hoe hitting a temporary fiber optic cable that had been laid on the ground following a previous incident. This resulted in service disruptions along US-380 in Aubrey, Texas, affecting a total of 264 fiber strands. Steps Taken: The team responded by replacing 11,050 feet of damaged cable. Splicing operations were conducted to ensure the integrity of the fiber connections, and the new cable was properly buried to prevent future incidents. Root Cause and Resolution: The root cause of the outage was the accidental damage to the temporary fiber cable by construction equipment. The resolution involved replacing and burying a significant length of new cable to restore service and protect it from similar future damage.
